ISPRS 2020 congress: Nice is nice!

1 May 2019

The XXIVth ISPRS Congress will take place in 2020 in the city of Nice, on the Mediterranean Sea, from June 14 to 20.

Nice is the capital of the French Riviera and is an outstanding location on the Mediterranean Sea, bordered by the Alpes mountains, Italy and the countryside of Provence.

The venue of the congress, the Acropolis Convention Centre, is in the heart of the historical city, the Vieux Nice, at 5 minutes walk from the Vieux Nice (the old town) and 10 minutes walk from the beaches. The Acropolis is less than 20 minutes from the airport by tramway. Thus extremely convenient!

ISPRS congresses are the major scientific and technical events of the geospatial community, held every 4 years. The ISPRS 2020 Congress in Nice will host over 3000 participants from one hundred countries and will gather leading specialists in the fields of photogrammetry, remote sensing, and spatial information sciences, coming from universities, mapping and cadastre agencies, space agencies, public organisations and private companies. The ISPRS Congress is the opportunity for participants to learn the state-of-the-art on the current trends in science and technology and also to network with a very large number of experts from our community and from neighbouring fields.

More than 2000 papers will be submitted to the 2020 Congress and most of them presented in the different tracks. Six of these tracks will be science-oriented, devoted to the presentations of new high quality contributions in the scope of the five Technical Commissions of ISPRS (sensor systems, photogrammetry, remote sensing, spatial information science, and education and outreach).

In addition to these, a fora track will discuss hot topics for our geospatial community (global mapping and resource monitoring for Sustainable Development Goals, smart-cities, digital globes, data cubes and geoplatforms, autonomous navigation and open-science) in order to study the role that our community could play in them.

A technology track will be dedicated to specific presentations of new technologies, products and services developed by industry but also by academia (scientific oriented platforms, products and services). It will be associated with a large industrial exhibition that will give one the unique opportunity to get updated on the advances of new geospatial technologies and solutions, and their applications.
